Well, I guess that it has been long enough and more since I last made an entry.
Snow:
My region was right between the six inch area and the 36 inch area (Litterally, 30 minutes west of me they had 3 feet of snow and 50 minutes east they got 6 to 8.) We had 12-18. My driveway had 18. Mom was at the bottom of the hill until Christmas Eve (she stayed with friends) and the Kids were at their dad’s house, so it was just me and the dogs and the snow and some more snow. The day before mom came home I shoveled the driveway and part of the road. I moved maybe 11 cubic meters of snow.
My little dog was not thrilled by the snow (which was above his head in places) or the cold (which sucked the heat right out of his little body). But our Lab thought that this was one of the bestest things ever. Being a water dog, he is well insulated against the cold, and being a retriever, any time he made the snow move there were a dozen little moving things for him to obsess over. His people would even throw him snow balls. Snowballs are magic. They are soft and cold and like ice without the crunchyness, and if you don’t catch them, they hide under the snow like rabbits.
I actually got a bored little kid to throw snowballs at him while I shoveled snow. They were both much happier (I think they had both been getting bored and lonely.)
Yeah some guy is predicting 60 inches of snow for us on wednsday. The general public is all in a titter. Looked at the NWS reports and the high on Wednsday is going to be in the 60s. I don’t think that I’m a gonna worry too much about the snow.

We went to The Polar Express at the Imax. The movie was quite good and had some of the best messages from a christmas film I’ve ever seen.

I got to talk with Christiane over the weekend, and I saw Jessica. The Mundys and McClures and I got together yesterday (and I played with the little Mundyling) Dan got me a copy of Dungeon. Whoot! We played it last night, and I won. (The teleport spell rocks) I rocked the little Mundyling to sleep as the McClures said their good byes, but she woke up and started screaming (she is having a rough time teething just now.)
I’ve picked up two more figures for my Turtles collection (April and Leonardo)
New years Party will be a little odd this year, what with the lack of Christiane and Jessica…
but…
Nate has made some noises about comming down for New Years!
Hee He sent an e-mail yesterday that assumed that I’d check my e-mail. I almost didn’t. In fact, I didn’t read it till after midnight.
Gah I still haven’t even started working on my prior entry. Sorry. I do promise that I will get it done soonish.

Well, that’s enough for now,
Michael

1. Reply to this post, because I would like to say a couple words about you.
2. I will also tell you what song(s) remind me of you when I hear it.
3. I will also tell you what celebrity/public/cartoon character you remind me of, either personality-wise or looks-wise.
4. I will also give ONE WORD that I associate with you when I think of you.
5. We all could use a boost now and then, so steal this for your journal and make someone else’s day as well.

So like I don’t promise much on the song side. I don’t even know the names of many the songs I listen to. And if you were hopeing for something modern… well the last cd I purchased was published in 2002. I also will most likely take a long time to reply to some of the people who potentially might post here.

Happy Christmas everyone.
Well, let’s see this is almost Saturday premorning.
In the last couple days we’ve gotten on the close order of 16 inches of snow.
The kids were at their dad’s house (he has a really sad driveway. He lives on a hill and instead of circleing the hill he cut the road straight up it so in any inclement weather there is no leaving for him.
Mom has been stuck down in madison since Wednsday (She was at work and or at the Matson/Draper residence.)
This means that at home it was just me and the dogs and some snow. And some more snow. And a birdfeeder… covered in snow.

I shoveled out the driveway Thursday. Maybe 9 feet wide and 35 feet long and a foot and a quarter deep. I think all of those are understatements of the actual facts. 393 cubic feet of snow. That’s 11.13 cubic meters. Water weighs a long ton per cubic meter. Ice weighs 90% of that. Snow maybe a quarter to half as much, so I moved somewhere between 2.5 and 5 thousand kilograms of snow. I broke the shovel. It was a fancy schmancy ergonomic snow shovel. I am never going to buy any other type. It was awesome.

I got a bored little kid to throw snowballs at my dog. (Padfoot is a retriever. Snowballs are perhaps the most awesome thing (other than perhaps a little girl dog in heat) in his world. His people are boring and stop throwing snowballs at/to him after 5-10 minutes.)

Mom is at mass right now (I think she went to two tonight, at least that is a good reason for her to be half an hour later than I expected)

Well Happy Christmas to all of you. I’ve lost the thread of thought.

I have been trying to figure out how to use my powers for good. I’m not comming up with anything. Fortunately, Dom has showed me an alternative. From this day forth, I shall use my powers for (mostly) not-evil!

So staring at a blank screen/page again.
As I see it there are three main sections of writing a story.
Characters, Settings, and What happens.
I don’t seem to be able to get these three mystical components to align.
I have a fair number of settings withouth a character or plot.
I have some plots that have either characters or settings but not both. (very few of these.)
Most of my characters have settings. This is because the setting is essential to the person.
The one that annoys me most is when I have a setting and characters and something of a plot but nothing to go in the middle. For an example, see the Sam Prior story I posted a way back.
gah.

This is almost enough to make me want to get an ipod. Too bad they are made by Apple.
